Why should I choose a GKPN Certified Shop?
Because certification verifies the protections that only matter when something goes wrong: coverage for your vehicle while it's in the shop's care, liability protection, and documented practices for vehicle intake, key control, storage and release.
The gap nobody checks
Anyone can say "we're insured." Very few customers ask which coverage, at what limit, or on what form. GKPN exists to close that gap so drivers don't have to become insurance experts to make a safe choice.
What gets verified
- Care, Custody & Control (Garagekeepers) Coverage — Verification of Garagekeepers coverage for customer vehicles in the shop's care, custody and control — a minimum of $100,000 per stored vehicle for mid-range shops, with an aggregate limit matched to the number of vehicles stored.
- Liability Protection — Review of Garage Liability or Commercial General Liability, property, tools and equipment, completed operations, and umbrella limits.
- Vehicle Intake — Document how customer vehicles are received and how their condition is recorded before work begins.
- Keys, Access, and Movement — Identify how keys are controlled and who may access, move, or drive a customer's vehicle.
- Storage and Release — Document how customer vehicles are stored, secured, protected, and released back to the customer.
